Day 6

In your own space, create a fanwork. A drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. A picspam. Something. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

I'm way beyond exhausted, but I'm using this post as a placeholder because I really want to create something!

Day 5

In your own space, talk about your fannish origin story. How did you come to fandom, why did you choose your fannish name, do you have more than one secret identity? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

My first ever fandom was "Sweet Valley". I was obsessed with the book series since I was 10 and started reading and writing fanfic when I was around 15? Can't exactly remember but I'm pretty sure it was awful and unfortunately I can't find any of my old fic even in the way back machine. It's probably a good thing, but I really wanted to take a trip down memory lane.

Around that time I was really into Buffy and I'm not ashamed to say that I was a bit of a Bangel shipper originally. I was obsessed with their "theme music" (you know what I'm talking about!) and I read a lot of fic. Then I fell in love with Spike and Spuffy and never turned back! I was a major lurker before finally joining in in September of 2005. My "Finnish name" is pretty self-explanatory and it's the only secret identity at the moment ;)

Day 3

In your own space, talk about your creative process - from what inspires you to what motivates you to how you manage to break through blocks. Does your process change depending on the type of creating you're doing? Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

Song lyrics have always been a major motivation when it comes to writing. I used to have a playlist tht included songs from BtVS like "Displaced" and "Lucky". I can't write if I'm listening to a song that's too noisy, for lack of a better word.

I have a plot bunny for a Spuffy fic that I just haven't been able to flesh out, but I have so many scenes that have been inspired by various songs. I can be listening to a song in the car and the words will bring a scene to life in my mind. Unfortunately, that's probably the worst time because I can't exactly jot the thoughts down unless I pull over.

I hope everyone had the happiest of Happy New Years!

Like many of my F-List, I have decided to participate in the Snowflake Challenge. I'm a day behind, so I will put days one and two together.

Day 1

In your own space, post a rec for at least three fanworks that you have created. It can be your favorite fanworks that you've created, or fanworks you feel no one ever saw, or fanworks you say would define you as a creator. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your post if you feel comfortable doing so.

#1 Baby Come Back - It's my one and only Barney/Lily (HIMYM) fic. I adore the idea of them as a couple, and I wish there were more fics for this pairing out there.

#2 Dirty Little Secret - An all human/AU Older Spike/Younger Buffy set in one of my favorite cities, New York. Also one of my few completed fics.

#3 Together We Stand - Another Spuffy, this time it's Alternate Season 4 fic. It's not finished, but I would really like to finish it in 2015!

Day 2

In your own space, create a list of at least three fannish things you'd love to receive, something you've wanted but were afraid to ask for - a fannish wish-list of sorts. Leave a comment in this post saying you did it. Include a link to your wish-list if you feel comfortable doing so. Maybe someone will grant a wish. Check out other people's posts. Maybe you will grant a wish. If any wishes are granted, we'd love it if you link them to this post.

#1 Fic recs! I'm currently binging on The Walking Dead and Friday Night Lights. I should be finished with them both shortly, and fic would be appreciated. Of course, any recs for my other fandoms would be appreciated as well.

#2 I would love a banner for my fic Together We Stand. I need all the motivation I can get to finish it!

#3 A vid for any of my fics.

I'm not sure how many people on my F-list are still reading Spuffy, but I've come across two outstanding stories.

The Soul Lies Down by the_moonmoth

Summary: As a child, I used to dream of a man in black and white, spinning in the desert like a dervish, sword flashing in the moonlight as he danced with death. [Sequel/companion to Angearia's "Fin Amour"]

You should read Angearia's fic first to have an idea of what's going on. spoiler alertCollapse ) There isn't much I can say that won't give the plot away so I'll just say that it's absolutely worth a read. It's still a WIP (I normally don't like waiting for updates but this is worth it!), and hasn't been updated since August.

Somethin' Special by Isha_Rose

Summary: In 1966 social change was thick and heavy in the air. When private school girl, Buffy Summers, was handed a Community Service Order for an offense that wasn't hers, she was forced to spend weeks on end with the delinquent boys who gatecrashed her Sweet Sixteen. But it was this that set in motion a life very different to the one that she might've led otherwise. Because in 1966 Buffy Summers met Spike - young, angry, and ready to set the world ablaze for the injustices he'd suffered at the hands of 'people like her'.

The next twenty five years hold much chop and change for our unlikely pair, but one thing will remain constant throughout. Them.

This story is choc-a-block full of nostalgia, romance, friendship, betrayal, art and revolution. It totals 10 chapters, spanning the '60s, '70s, '80s and '90s; I hope that you'll join me for the ride!

I really wish this story wasn't a WIP. Once again I really don't like to read WIPs because I can become obsessed (as I have with this story) and then I'm dying to know what happens. As the summary says the story travels quickly through time. It starts in what I'm assuming is the present for them (1990) and then fills in the blanks starting in 1966. It's very interesting how Spike and Buffy's relationship constantly evolves. An absolute must read!
